Keep Moving Forward, Inc. offers unique, intensive and effective physical therapy for all individuals, infants through adulthood with neuromuscular disorders, developmental delays and a variety of other diagnoses.
The goal of Keep Moving Forward is to promote independent movement for each patient, giving them the confidence to live more productive and self-sufficient lives.
The Keep Moving Forward program is performed on a one-to-one basis with experienced and certified physical therapist, Amy Eapen. Amy holds a doctorate in physical therapy and certification in Early Intervention, and is vastly experienced in treating both children and adults with a multitude of physical challenges and disorders.
The Keep Moving Forward program follows an holistic approach, which focuses on enhancing the development of independence. A variety of tools and techniques are utilized during each treatment session including:
- Fine and Gross Motor Tools
- Sensory Integration
- Spider Suspension System
- TheraSuit® (Soft Dynamic Proprioceptive Orthosis)
- Weight-Assisted Gait Training with the Treadmill
- Universal Exercise Unit-Pulley System
Keep Moving Forward's intensive physical therapy is ideal for those looking to accelerate their progress in developmental and functional skills.
Indications for Intensive Physical Therapy Include:
- Ataxia
- Athetosis
- Autism
- Cerebral Palsy
- Developmental Delays
- Down Syndrome
- Hypertonia (spasticity)
- Hypotonia (low muscle tone)
- Pre-pubescent Obesity
- Stroke
- Traumatic Brain Injury
Individuals that participate in the Keep Moving Forward program visit the center 3 hours per day, 5 days per week, for approximately 3-4 weeks.
On a typical therapy day, participants in the Keep Moving Forward program will partake in the following:
- Warm-up and deep tissue massage
- Tone reduction and Sensory Integration techniques
- Decreasing pathological movement patterns
- Increasing active proper movement patterns
- Stretching/strengthening specific muscle groups responsible for functional movement
- Progressive resistance exercises
- Balance, coordination and endurance training
- Transfers, functional activities and gait training
