Joanna has made incredible progress and we attribute it to 120 hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments combined with other therapies. She has had to relearn all of her cognitive and physical abilities and has proven that she is able to learn, process and apply new information with continuous success throughout her treatments.
Joanna is now able to form complete sentences and have short conversations. Her cognitive abilities such as memory, problem solving and object recognition have dramatically improved. She is showing movement in her right leg and foot. Also, she is moving her right arm, shoulder, elbow, and wrist. She is able to maintain an open hand position, relaxing a few of her fingers. She is beginning to be able to grasp and let go of things with her right hand. She is learning to hold a fork and cut her own meat.
Joanna has shown changes in her facial features and is resuming her pre-accident appearance. She is now able to ascent and descent 25 steps with the left handrail and close guard, only needing assistance for placing her right foot on the step in front when descending. She can walk with a cane with minimal assistance. Her record is at least two city blocks! Her rehabilitation has been miraculous and has exceeded all expectations of many therapists!
The staff have become like family to us. The technicians worked so great with Joanna. They were able to help her overcome her fears beyond even my own capabilities! They had a calming way about them and she was able to make the first dive when I was ready to give up. What a very caring and professional staff! |

After Jack received 20 treatments, we noticed that while doing sports and other gross motor activities he was able to acquire skills, which in the past, he was not. He achieved these skills with accuracy. We saw improvements with buttoning his pants, etc. He started increasing his mean length utterances and sentences using more details. His language was more natural and he was connected to who was around him and whom he was talking to.
Jack is definitely more aware of what is going on around him – joint connection has increased but “abstract” comments are still difficult for him to grasp. During treatments, his hand flapping and humming has greatly decreased. When taking a shower, he tolerates the water over his head and face better. He is completing the tasks of bathroom care more independently, for example, flushing and pulling up his pants prior to walking out of the bathroom without prompting. Jack’s awareness of his surroundings and desire to connect with others has increased.
Jack started making improvements after his third treatment and had minimal regression of what he gained after the treatments.
The staff is very kind and accommodating to me, my son, and even my daughter who waits in the waiting room. They explain everything and are understanding of all my questions. |

Alex suffered an anoxic TBI due to a near drowning in 1997. Since receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Alex is moving his legs, taking steps in his gait training, lifting and holding up his head and bearing weight on hands (the first time in ten years). He is using his hands (has not in 10 years), turning his head on command, squeezing his fingers/closing his hands and holding objects. He sleeps much better without medication. He is much more alert. He is totally engaged in his surroundings. His swallow improved after the 2nd treatment. Facial features improved.
The staff at Hyperbaric Medicine is very knowledgeable and efficient. They are the best! |

Overall, the hyperbaric treatments have helped me significantly. I feel the best way to explain it is to say that it reaches spots where antibiotics don’t - killing more spirochetes. It also pushes out toxins from the Lyme, which in my opinion, the toxins are a big part of the disease. It is like HBOT enhanced the improvement that I’ve had from IV and took me to another level.
I feel a key to finally beating Lyme disease or keeping it under control is to continue HBOT periodically, after the initial treatment. Disorientation has also improved along with mental clarity. I have better focus and I’m able to sleep so much better at night. I have felt less leg and joint pain. I have felt more energy and strength, not how I used to feel before I was sick, but the best since I contracted Lyme disease. My massage therapist has also seen a big difference in my muscles. My headaches have also been less severe and not as often. |
